A Codehive Traineeship Journey: From Fresh Talent to Full Developer

Manali is one of those success stories. After joining our Software Development Traineeship, she is now a full-time developer at SurePay and has gained experience in Java, Spring Boot, and AWS.
Building skills step by step
When Manali joined Codehive, she was matched with SurePay, where she immediately started contributing to projects in fraud prevention and IBAN name-checking technology. Alongside her 40-hour work week, she took part in our structured program, with 20 weeks of technical training, soft skills workshops and mentoring by her industry expert.
During her traineeship, she developed strong expertise in Java and quickly became proficient in Spring Boot, building and extending back-end services that neededto perform at scale. She also gained hands-on experience with AWS cloudservices, learning how to deploy, monitor and maintain applications in a secureand scalable environment.
Through gaining experience at SurePay and receiving feedback from the experts andmentor, she learned a lot: “The feedback culture at SurePay was sometimes intense. Even an extra space in your code gets noticed, but it pushed me todeliver at a higher level every week.”
Growing through challenges
The combination of working in a high-performance team and having regular training sessions created the ideal environment for growth. “Everything was new at first: the technologies, the way of working. But because the traineeship gaveme structure and support, I could keep challenging myself without feeling lost.”
She also highlights how Codehive's coaching helped her develop beyond coding. “I learned how to communicate better with stakeholders and manage my time effectively.These skills make just as much impact as the technical ones.”
From trainee to full-time developer
At the end of the traineeship, Manali successfully completed her evaluation andtransitioned into a full-time role at SurePay. What she values most is thatnothing that is learned goes to waste. Every skill, technical or personal, has made her more confident in her role as a developer.
Today, she continues to grow in banking and fraud detection technologies, while deepening her expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and AWS and keeping a healthy work-life balance in the Netherlands. Looking ahead, she wants to deepen her expertise in software development and carry forward the mindset she built at Codehive: continuous learning, supported by a strong network.
